Gran Turismo 5 delayed, again

Looks like the highly anticipated driver sim thats been in development for over 5 years is going to be pushed back yet again. (side note: Forza is a better game just my opinion)

Gran Turismo 5 delayed, again

The fifth version of the Gran Turismo racing franchise for PS3 faces yet another delay, which will push its November 2 launch date all the way back to the holiday season.

So, we are now at four years and counting since the first look at Gran Turismo 5 way back at E3 in 2006, and still we do not know exactly when the game will be out, other than sometime during the “holiday season.” What that means is still frustratingly vague, but it could signify that the game has been delayed until 2011.

The news came via a short blog post on the official PlayStation website, with no reasoning as to why Polyphony Digital’s game would miss its previously announced November 2 release date, but it does appear that the delay is worldwide.

“We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches,” SCEA producer Taku Imasaki said in the statement.

While it is good to know that Sony is not going to rush out a game that has known problems, it could also mean that the issues with the game are significant.  To delay such a major title that has been hotly anticipated after four years, then fail to give a new release date, is not good news for the franchise.
